5 Practical Tips To Maximize the 10-10 Sale

Legacy Architect Sheila Ching-Ong has these money-saving recos before you make your splurge!

Have you been eyeing a new pair of sneakers or the latest smartphone? You should hold off until October 10, this month’s edition of the same-digit flash sale from giant e-commerce shops like Lazada and Shopee.

If you are new to these events, here’s how you can maximize your budget.

1. Plan Ahead

With all the discounts, deals, and other promos these flash sales have to offer, it is easy to get overwhelmed when you log into the selling platforms. If you do not have a game plan going in, you might spend much more than you should or end up with a huge credit card bill.

It happens more often than you might think.

To sidestep this common pitfall, it is important to lay some ground rules before the big day. Find out what your credit limit is and set a budget. Make a list of the things that you need the most and browse the platforms in advance. Bookmark the items that you want to buy so when the day comes, you won’t be tempted to look at other products.

2. Check for Credit Card Promos

To maximize the discount that you could get, find out if the online platform has credit card promos on top of the upcoming flash sale.

For instance, Lazada had a MastercardMondays promo in the days leading up to the September 9 flash sale, where they offered a 12% discount on a minimum purchase of Php 1,500.

If you are a new UnionBank credit cardholder, you can apply for Php 5,000 worth of shopping credit on Lazada. This promo started last July 1 and is valid until June 30 of next year.

3. Watch Out for Vouchers

Lazada and Shopee are loaded with vouchers that you could use to shave off a few extra pesos from an item’s cost. There are free shipping coupons for zero minimum spends and discounts for different spending amounts. The more expensive an item is, the higher the value of the voucher you could get.

If you want to familiarize yourself with how the vouchers work, you could try browsing different online selling platforms in advance.

4. Check Out Their Social Media Accounts

With the 10-10 flash sale just days away, online sellers are coming up with different ways to draw interest from potential customers. There are weekly draws like the Swerte Mo promo from Lazada, where you get the chance to win Php 100,000 and other prizes. Shopee has online games where you could get vouchers for the 10-10 sale if you guess the lyrics of a song.

To join promotional activities like these, just check out the social media accounts of the online selling platforms.

5. Make Sure that the Seller is Legit

Finally, when the 10-10 flash sale finally starts and you are ready to make a purchase, make sure that the seller is legit before adding their product to your virtual cart. Most of these online retailers operate legally, but there are a few bad apples.

To be on the safe side, shop only from authorized distributors. In Lazada, you will find them in the LazMall section. Shopee’s counterpart for this is the Shopee Mall.
