1. The Thousand Faces of Dunjia

This action-packed multi-awarded film will leave you on the edge of your seat. It unravels a story of a young constable who discovers and joins the Wuyin Clan, a secret society of warriors with magic powers that fight to protect that world from monsters. The film features a non-stop martial arts sequence, along with a fine mix of comedy, adventure, and myth for anyone to enjoy.

 

2. A Beautiful Life

The poignant romance film tells the love story of an ambitious real estate agent and conservative policeman who meet at a karaoke bar at a time when both their personal lives are in disarray. They instantly feel a connection and start seeing each other more often. As their romance blossoms, the two face life’s harsh realities, mysteries, and  joy. The film stars Taiwanese-Hong Kong actress Shu Qi and Chinese actor Liu Ye.

 

3. Love O2O

This coming-of-age romantic comedy also offers a mix of action and drama. A computer science major gets dumped by her partner through an online role-playing game. But the game’s top ranked player, who happens to be studying in the same school as her, courts her through the online game. When the two meet in real life, they fall in love and take their romance to the next level.

 

4. The Bare Footed Kid

The Bare Footed Kid, a martial arts film, captures the journey of a poor, young, and illiterate boy that chooses to work at a family friend’s dye factory after his father dies. When he joins a fighting tournament, he draws the attention of a business competitor and a corrupt official. The movie is directed by Johnnie To and stars Aaron Kwok, Maggie Cheung, Ti Lung, and Jacklyn Wu. 

 

5. If You Are the One

Romcom fans can tune into this heartwarming story about the search for true love. Upon returning to China, a bachelor decides to finally settle down in his late forties after years of working overseas. He begins looking for dates and potential and sincere partners online. He eventually meets a flight attendant and they both agree to date casually as she is still in the process of getting over her previous lover. As the story unfolds, the two realize that their agreement is blossoming into a serious and sincere relationship. Written and directed by Feng Xiaogang, the movie stars Ge You and Shu Qi.
