BPI celebrates Sustainability Awareness Month with Green and Beyond Sustainability Fair

Looking towards a better tomorrow, the Bank of the Philippines (BPI) has taken further steps to improve the quality of Filipino life by doing their part in promoting a sustainable society.

Last June 2 to 4, BPI opened the second annual celebration of its Sustainability Awareness Month with the three-day BPI Green and Beyond Sustainability Fair at the Glorietta Activity Center in Makati City, acting on its responsibility toward integrating sustainability not only its business operations but also into the daily lives of its customers. In light of this, BPI has actively backed the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, which provide a roadmap for addressing social and environmental challenges, in order to create and contribute meaningful change towards a better future where all can benefit.

The BPI Green and Beyond Sustainability Fair was officially welcomed through speeches made by industry sustainability champions such as BPI Advisory Council Member Fernando Zobel de Ayala; Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Assistant Governor Lyn Javier; Makati Vice Mayor Monique Lagdameo; BPI Chief Finance Officer and Chief Sustainability Officer Eric Luchangco; BPI Head of Consumer Marketing, Platforms, and Digital Activation Mariana Zobel de Ayala; and BPI Head of Consumer Banking and Digital Platforms Ginbee Go.

Actress Bea Alonzo also serves as their BPI Sustainability Ambassador.

“Sustainability is a way of life in which we think not just about today’s cost of what we consume but also about the future cost of today’s consumption,” Luchangco explained.

Throughout the event, BPI, together with its partners AC Motors and Ayala Land, featured an exhibited array of products and services all aimed to promote a commitment towards a sustainable future. AC Motors, for instance, showcased electric vehicles modeled to improve air quality by reducing carbon emissions. Meanwhile, Ayala Land unveiled their developments in eco-friendly housing. BPI also presented the digital solutions of its lifestyle app VYBE, which serves as an e-wallet that integrates sustainable cashless services into everyday life.

Additionally, the fair provided a platform for substantial discussion on enacting sustainability with presentations of initiatives, programs, and plans that emphasize the importance of shaping the future of Filipino communities through providing access to environmentally conscious choices, as well as financial inclusivity. Aligned with these directives, BPI further presented auto loan, housing loan, and insurance offerings, as well as credit card deals for green home appliances, that would enable customers to enact their own personal efforts toward sustainability.

Expounding on BPI’s sustainability-driven goals, Executive Vice President Ginbee Go stated, “At the forefront of our sustainability efforts is our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint and promoting environmentally friendly practices. We will continue to invest in sustainable banking practices, exploring innovative solutions that contribute to a greener future. By integrating sustainable principles into our core operations, we aim to set new standards for responsibility banking and inspire positive change in the industry.”

With the expo free for entry, attendants enjoyed not only the products, services, and deals featured by BPI but also the games and prizes prepared at each of the fair’s booths.

Recognized by Finance Asia as the Best Sustainable Bank in the Philippines for its fourth consecutive year, BPI has accomplished leaps and bounds in its journey towards meaningful sustainability. Undoubtedly, following the success of BPI’s Green and Beyond Sustainability Fair, celebrations of its Sustainability Awareness Month will continue leading the way for the country’s improved sustainable future.
