In recognition of their outstanding services in talent management, learning, and development, Cardinal Santos Medical Center (CSMC) was awarded by the People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) as the 2022 National Exemplar for the People Program of the Year category. Held at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza last October 14, the event commemorated the various efforts placed in advancing the national management of human resources.
This year, CSMC was bestowed the national exemplar title for its exceptional training program at the Philippine Center for Advanced Surgery – Minimally Invasive Training Center (PCAS-MISTIC), a world-class institution that trains Filipino surgeons with the aim of providing communities across the Philippines with more access to advanced surgical options. Globally recognized for the high standards placed on its training quality, the PCAS-MISTIC has been known to host workshops and seminars attended by surgeons from both in and out of the country.
Nationally considered to be the first of its kind, the PCAS-MISTIC hosts state-of-the-art facilities manned by leading medical experts from various fields. Since its establishment, the institution has been accredited by local and international organizations, including the Endoscopic and Laparoscopic Surgeons of Asia (ELSA), Asia Pacific Hernia Society (APHS), Asia Endo-Surgery Task Force (AETF), Philippine Association of Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Surgeons (PALES), and the Asia Pacific Endo-Lap Surgery Group (APELS). It is currently headed by MIS expert Dr. Alfred Allen Buenafe.
In his acceptance speech, CSMC President and CEO Raul Pagdanganan stated, “With much pride and great joy, we are extremely honored to receive such a prestigious award on behalf of our Caring Cardinal family. Yes, it is one of Cardinal Santos’ own ways of contributing to nation-building in the Philippines.”
Founded in 1977, the PMAP Awards annually recognizes organizations that propagate outstanding business and people management practices. Prior to this, the PCAS-MISTIC was also previously honored as the Regional Exemplar (National Capital Region) under the same category. In 2016, CSMC also became the first private hospital to achieve the distinguished Employer of the Year Award.
In light of CSMC’s continued achievements, Pagdanganan expressed, “This award fires up our commitment to continue introducing innovations in healthcare and providing excellent training comparable to those in advanced countries to help make MIS and its benefits more accessible to a greater number of people across the country and the world.”
