Rocher Joyce Sy Villa is a member of Yara, an up-and-coming girl group from the Philippines. Prior to her entertainment career, Rocher completed her secondary education at Saint Jude Catholic School and earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a major in export management from De La Salle College of Saint Benilde, where she graduated with honors.
She underwent idol training at ShowBT Entertainment with the well-known Filipino boy group SB19 from 2016 to 2018. Rocher and her groupmates gained recognition for winning the reality show POPinoy: The Search for the Next-Gen P-Pop Stars in 2021. They are currently represented by AAA talent agency, which counts entertainment icons Maine Mendoza and Marian Rivera among its roster. On March 2, Yara officially joined Sony Music Philippines.
Before entering the entertainment industry, Rocher worked in the logistics field for an international company, but decided to quit her job to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a performer. Despite initial reservations from her parents, Rocher was determined to take the chance right after college and use her degree as a backup plan.
Currently, Rocher is focused on preparing for Yara’s debut single and showcase, which includes rigorous training in vocal practice, dance practice, body conditioning, and regular gym workouts to maintain her stamina and physique. The group is also very involved in every aspect of its debut project, including music production, music video, and legal matters.
Following in the footsteps of k-pop’s highly conceptual brand identity, Yara performs as a group of secret agents in their debut, Rocher being the Thief or Pickpocket. According to her secret agent profile, she can speak Filipino, English, Hokkien, Mandarin Chinese, and Korean. As a part of her brand character lore, she can “open any locks and is great at any jobs that require sleight-of-hand stealing. Rocher can also make herself fit in impossible places.”
