Did Heart Evangelista Audition for ‘Crazy Rich Asians’?

We’ve heard rumors about Heart Evangelista auditioning for the movie Crazy Rich Asians. They’ve been floating around since there was news that the best-selling book was becoming a film, but we’ve never actually heard about this from Heart herself … at least until now.
In an interview with Dr. Aivee Teo, she reveals that she had auditioned for the role of heiress Araminta Lee, which was ultimately played by Sonoya Mizuno.
The vlog of Dr. Aivee, Heart’s long-time dermatologist and friend, featured a segment where they both reacted to their old photos, including one with Heart and actress Gemma Chan, who played Astrid Leong-Teo.
She revealed that she got a call during the last leg of auditions and that her audition took place in the Philippines.
“And I remember I got a crew and I did the scene as like a real scene from a telenovela. And I did, I got a call. I remember, I woke up to 10 missed calls from the agent from LA.”
They had asked her if she was available to shoot, but never got back to her.
Heart takes it all in stride, noting that she did become friends with Kevin Kwan, the book’s author, after that.
“You don’t want to aim for too much. Just be fine with what they offer.”
