Global fashion retailer SHEIN’s quick rise to fame over the years can lead to many different reasons, but one of the most obvious ones is its diverse selection of ready-to-wear clothes for men and women of all shapes and sizes.
This writer’s experience with the fashion retailer has always been pleasant, and some of the pieces she got from SHEIN are still part of her daily wardrobe rotations. Likewise, Chinoy creators Toni Sia, Ashley Sandrine Yap, and Hazel Quing have also expressed their satisfaction and recommendations for SHEIN. So much so that they all created SHEIN fashion hauls on their YouTube channels.
Through these influencers and more, SHEIN has become one of the go-to online shopping platforms for many people globally, especially during the monthly sales in which SHEIN participates.
In celebration of its 13th anniversary, SHEIN is proud to announce a collaboration with five new Filipino designers—Candle Ray, Abimer, Raya Aleczandra, Kimble Quinto, and Pamela Madlangbayan—who were all part of SHEIN X, the brand’s global design incubator program.
In January 2021, SHEIN X was launched to give emerging fashion designers the unique opportunity to collaborate with the brand and take their designs to new heights. The program involved designers, illustrators, and artists from all over the world to create their own mini-collection of women’s, men’s, and children’s apparel.
Here are more details on the Filipino designers who will showcase their designs on SHEIN and what to expect from each of their collections.
Candle Ray and a sample fit of his SHEIN collection
Candle Ray stands for functional clothing that combines precision and strength with subtle sensibility. The SHEIN X Candle Ray collection offers men’s and women’s clothing that takes architectural geometry and suggests power and authority.
Abimer and a sample fit of her SHEIN collection
Filipino fashion designer Abimer is known for her sexy yet sophisticated pieces. Her designs in the SHEIN X Abimer collection are inspired by Victorian lingerie and infused with modern techniques to showcase a woman’s best assets.
Raya Aleczandra and a sample fit of her SHEIN collection
Raya Aleczandra knew from a young age that she wanted to be in the fashion industry. The SHEIN X Raya collection showcases her distinct feminine artistry with a range of designs that reflect her ongoing creative journey.
Kimble Quinto‘s curiosity and fascination with garments led her to pursue international studies in fashion. Her brand, KIMBLE, is about empowerment through a woman’s clothing. The SHEIN X KIMBLE collection showcases a play on textures through different manipulations and a mix of elegant silhouettes.
Pamela Madlangbayan and a sample fit of her SHEIN collection
Pamela Madlangbayan began designing clothing to channel the collective mental struggle during the pandemic into something artistic and empowering. The fun and fearless pieces in the SHEIN X Pamela collection make the wearer feel like a pop star in their own right.
In August, SHEIN also launched the SHEIN X 100K Challenge, a four-part reality competition and television series that offered 30 emerging designers the chance to partner with SHEIN to launch their 3-piece capsule collection. The competitors faced off for a USD100,000 cash prize and the opportunity to be featured in SHEIN’s Fall/Winter Fashion Showcase. Pamela Madlangbayan represented the Philippines in the contest.
You may now shop the collections of these five local designers through SHEIN’s app and website.
