Jeremy Lin Makes History as First Asian-American with Signature Shoe Brand

Pioneering basketball player Jeremy Lin, who is currently playing for the Santa Cruz Warriors in the NBA G League, just dropped his own signature line of shoes with Xtep Sports, a Chinese shoe brand. He becomes the first Asian-American to do so.

He released two colorways, but the kicks were sold out immediately. This follows the track record of his Lin-sanity popularity in the NBA.

Lin, however, assures everybody that there are new colorways hitting the shelves soon, so if you didn’t get your hands on his first drop, keep your eyes peeled for the next one!

On his Instagram, announcing the new shoe line, he also recounted his accomplishments over the years:

“When I was 22, I was the first Asian American to make the NBA in 50 years, and all I cared about was being recognized for my skills, not skin color.

When I was 22, I was the first Harvard player to make the NBA in 60 years and all I cared about was what the future held, not the past.

When I was 24, I had the most points scored in their first 4 starts in NBA history, and all I cared about was how many more [I’d] score in upcoming games.

When I was 30, I was the first Asian-American to win an NBA championship, and I was so focused on how I wanted to win another one the way I had envisioned it.

Now that [I’m] 32 and more able to cherish and be grateful for the present, [I’m] going to really soak in this piece of history, rather than immediate move to the JLIN Twos or the next goal.”
