The other day, I wrote about the most popular Chinese hits among Chinoys. One of them is the song Peng You or “Friends.” With that being said, let’s look at some of Kim Chiu’s renditions of that song as it holds many good memories for her.
1. Kim Chiu singing “Peng You” in PBB
Chiu rose to popularity after winning the grand prize on the reality show Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition. Chiu moved to Manila from her birthplace, Cebu City, for the show. On April 23, 2006, she and the other inmates entered the Big Brother house. She often taught fellow housemates random Chinese words and phrases in the show. She also sang the song, Peng You, which increased her popularity significantly.
2. Kim Chiu singing “Peng You” at FUNtasy Concert
On April 9, 2016, Kim Chiu and her fans were filled with nostalgia as the Chinita Princess performed her debut song “Peng You” at the Kia Theater. She celebrated her tenth year in show business and moved her admirers to tears by recalling events from ten years ago. “Peng You” was one of the songs from Kim’s first album “Gua Ai Di,” which she released after winning the inaugural PBB Teen Edition in 2006.
3. Kim Chiu releasing her cover of “Peng You” and “Yue Liang Dai Biao Wo De Xin”
In our previous article, we also talked about Yue Liang Dai Biao Wo De Xin or “The Moon Represents My Heart” by Teresa Teng, which is a song that is frequently referred to as “one of the most well-known and cherished Chinese songs of all time.”
Kim Chiu often revisits her past and reconnects with her Chinese roots by releasing many different covers of Peng You, along with other famous Chinoy hits such as Yue Liang Dai Biao Wo De Xin. Her fans definitely can’t get enough of it and the Chinita princess’ refreshing vocals.
