With over eight live-action adaptations of the popular Japanese manga series, Boys Over Flowers (Hana Yori Dango) by Yoko Kamio, the Meteor Garden phenomenon remains strong, so much so that — brace yourselves for a twist — the first-ever Thai remake, F4 Thailand: Boys Over Flowers, is coming in 2021.

Under GMMTV, the Thai adaptation will be produced by Parbdee Taweesuk who was behind the highest-rated teenage series, The Gifted and The Gifted: Graduation.

The original series centered on a female student, Tsukushi Makino, who challenges a group of wealthy bad boys called, F4 or “Flower Four.” Tsukasa Domyouji, the leader of the group, takes an interest in Makino because she’s the only one in the elite school who isn’t fond of him.

The Meteor Garden craze also continues partly because of sweet nostalgia. Meteor Garden’s classic story remains iconic because of the eye-candy characters, a compelling plot, stunning fashion style, and heart-fluttering scenes that we can’t help but fall in love with. Even with several hit adaptations like the 2001 Taiwanese, 2009 Korean, and 2018 Chinese remakes, we just can’t get enough, and we can’t wait to see the next one!

The upcoming series has been highly anticipated among Meteor Garden fans with fan-favorite cast members like Bright Vachirawit (Thyme, the counterpart of Dao Mingsi) and Win Metawin (Kavin, the counterpart of Xi Men) set to appear after the success of their BL (Boys’ Love) shows, 2gether: The Series and Still 2gether in 2020.

Fans are also excited to see promising actors, Nani Hirunkit Changkham (M.J., the counterpart of Mei Zuo) and Dew Jirawat Sutivanisak (Ren, the counterpart of Hua Zelei). A new actress, Tu Tontawan Tantivejakul (Gorya, the counterpart of Shan Cai), will also join the cast, making her acting debut on the show.

In the Thai remake, the story follows an ordinary student, Gorya (Tu Tontawan Tantivejaku), who gets accepted in an elite school that’s exclusively for affluent students. She clashes with the hot-headed leader, Thyme (Bright Vachirawit) from the famous clique known as F4.

Despite a series of pranks against her, Gorya continues to be defiant and stands up for herself. She also becomes entangled in a love triangle between the two members of F4. Thyme eventually becomes smitten with Gorya and romantically pursues her. But she starts to like Ren who still hasn’t moved on from his childhood love. Amidst the chaos, Gorya can’t help but fall in love with Thyme because of his positive change of character and his generosity towards her.
