Record-Breaking 1CH1NOY: Chinese by Blood, Filipino by Heart Returns for a Second Season on CNN

Top-rated TV show Chinese by Blood, Filipino by Heart, produced by Fil-Chi Productions, raises the bar as its second season premieres this Sunday, May 15 at 8pm on CNN Philippines.

The first season on CNN reach a peak of 1.88M views and to top that, this season, the show is going #BeyondBorders.

For the first time in its 11-year history, the production travels outside of Metro Manila to feature notable Chinoys, starting off with world-renowned furniture designer Kenneth Cobonpue. The show also spotlights Youtuber couple and Cebu-based Slater Young and Kryz Uy and dried fruits magnate Justin Uy.

Directed yet again by Emmy-award-winning Michael Carandang, the borders are not literal ones either. As part of the Beyond Borders theme, the show also delves into overcoming proverbial borders, challenges, stereotypes and expectations. Learn from the man who founded what is arguably the first F-beauty brand, Ever Bilena—Dioceldo Sy. Brothers Brian and Brandon Liu, the next generation behind Golden ABC and iconic retail brand Penshoppe also feature this season. Proving also that Chinoy women can achieve just as much if not more, and can juggle multiple roles while at it, this season profiles fashion designer Rosenthal Tee and momfluencer Camille Co. Another fantastic female is Dr. Beverly Ho, who was instrumental in the country’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in her role in the Department of Health (DOH).

And one Chinoy who has won the hearts of the nation by dispensing sound financial advice is guru Chinkee Tan. Opening up about his own struggles and the techniques of how he’s built his wealth, Chinkee has amassed millions of followers on Facebook and Youtube.

Rounding out this series are resource persons who tell the Chinoy story. This season, there are stellar additions starting with award-winning fiction writer and agriculture editor Yvette Tan who unabashedly shared her point of view on being Chinoy. We also have the director of the latest Mano Po TV series, Ian Loreños who went off the beaten path, host and entrepreneur Valerie Tan, cryptocurrency trader and investor Chris Tan, Xavier School President Fr. Aristotle Dy, SJ, PHD, model Reins Mika and beauty queen/physicist Karen Ibasco. Returning as a resource person to shake up things  is DJ and podcaster Stan Sy.

This season is going beyond borders, indeed.
