Love is in the air! Eric Charles Uy, vice president for technical services for SM Hotels and Conventions, and Reena Ritz Tee, digital marketing consultant for small and medium-sized businesses, recently tied the knot.
The groom is the grandson of the late SM tycoon Henry Sy, Sr., and the son of Elizabeth Sy and the late Charles Uy. The bride is a former hotelier who worked for Shangri-La Hotel in Maldives, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
While they were dating, they were working in different countries with Uy in Manila and Tee in Hong Kong. They used to simply fly back and forth to see each other, but unfortunately, during the pandemic, they were separated for nine months.
Keeping their hopes up, the couple planned to have their wedding take place in September 2020 in the South of France. But since the pandemic was extended, they had to postpone their wedding to the following year, assuming that travel would be safe again by then.
After another disappointment that things still hadn’t normalized, they asked themselves what were they waiting for. She then flew back to Manila and planned an intimate wedding in three weeks.

The couple chose a place of sentimental value: the gardens in the Sy family-owned Pico de Loro Beach and Country Club. It was also where the newlyweds had one of their first out-of-town dates.
The bride donned an Ines di Santo gown and shoes by Manolo Blahnik. The groom wore a bespoke suit from Rashmi Tailor in Hong Kong and shoes by Sapatero Manila.
