Valerie Tan : Making Our Choice in the Road Less Traveled with her love and interest in hosting.

“Start with your interests and strengths. From there, see which career options may be for you.”

It’s always interesting to meet the person behind the voiceovers we hear in television, commercials, and advertisements or to learn the story behind the one who presides over events. Ever wondered what it’s like to be a host and how to be like them?

One of our panel speakers is Valerie Tan the host of CNN Philippines’ lifestyle magazine show “I Heart PH,” and previously of ABS CBN News Channel’s business profile show “Modern Tao Ke TV,” which featured successful Filipino-Chinese personalities (ANC).

A passionate woman with big dreams, in order to achieve them, she had to work hard and venture into the industry so that people would recognize her name and abilities.

Valerie Tan has worked for several networks, including GMA and GMA News TV, for over 15 years. She also hosts the podcast “Chicas & Margaritas,” which is available on Spotify and is powered by Podcast Network Asia.

Valerie realized that taking the road less traveled has something to do with where she is now. “It is indeed the road less travelled, but I’m glad more and more Chinoys are venturing into this field.”

Meeting an inspiring person can change your perspective on life and motivate you to pursue your own definition of career success.

“When I was still in St. Jude Catholic School as a high school student, I remember hearing a talk by Tim Yap. I learned so much from him, and I’m grateful it’s now my turn to share my experiences to others who dream of pursuing this path, too.”

Valerie discovered what it’s like to work in this industry while pursuing this path: “It’s colorful, fulfilling, and definitely not linear.” There are a lot of twists and turns.”

Life isn’t always a game of luck. Your success does not define your life or how great you are in the industry or field in which you work. It all comes down to hard work and perseverance. “I started pursuing a lot of things, but after realizing my strengths and weaknesses, I narrowed my focus to the path I believe is more viable.”
