If you’ve been an avid user of the platform, then you’d surely noticed the on-going stylish and hypnotizing Chinese streetwear trend all over your fyp (for you page). Videos emerge documenting young adults casually wearing various street style fashion while walking along the sidewalk. The fashion ranges from classic streetwear to a new and contemporary reinterpretation of traditional ‘hanfu’ apparel. To top it off, the attitude brought by these individuals comes across when the video is set into a slow-motion effect.

Where do all these videos come from if TikTok is not even available in China? It turns out, the video contents are compilations posts from a platform called Douyin, which is known as TikTok’s Chinese version.

According to Vice, the ‘paparazzi vibe’ from these videos aren’t all candid. Some influencers would go out of their way to collaborate with photographers to shoot along the popular shopping districts in China. Although some individuals would go into these areas to get filmed or create contents for their personal profiles.
