Women’s Health 101: Special Healthcare packages you need now

Oftentimes, women’s health gets overlooked due to sociocultural factors and, more recently, due to COVID-19. In fact, global statistics from the World Health Organization show that the pandemic continues to “disrupt access to vital health and support services.” The pandemic has also increased the social pressure on women to become multitaskers — from being effective employees despite the challenge of working remotely, to juggling online schooling for kids, keeping up the house, and maintaining finances.

It should go without saying that women need to take better care of their health. And that starts with understanding the different medical screenings required for each stage of their lives and identifying possible health risks that could pose danger to them such as obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and osteoporosis.

There are an array of diseases and phases that afflict women only, hence the need for them to do special screenings outside of the routine.

Good thing there are a number of women’s healthcare packages available at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center (CSMC) that were specifically designed to cater to the needs of women aging from the mid-20s and up.

Executive Prenatal Care

Preparing for childbirth can be joyful and exciting, but COVID-19 disrupted many women’s prenatal care due to reluctance to go to hospitals for fear of infection. To support pregnant women in their maternal journey, CSMC has developed an Executive Prenatal Care program that ensures that moms and babies are safe, comfortable, and in their best condition.

The prenatal care program provides patients the same kind of experience when availing of an executive check-up, and offers consultations and comprehensive sets of diagnostic and imaging procedures required in the 9-month journey to motherhood.

The executive prenatal package includes different inclusions for the three trimesters. For the first trimester priced at P10,500, services include Complete Blood Count (CBC), Blood Typing, Urinalysis, Rubella IgG, VDRL, Hepatitis B Surface Antigen, Glucose (FBS/Fasting), HACT Test, Ultrasound Transvaginal and follow-up consultation. The second trimester, priced at P5,274, includes CBC, Urinalysis, Congenital Anomaly Scan, and follow-up consultation. Lastly, for the third trimester at P3,598, CBC, Urinalysis, Fetal Biometry, and follow-up consultation are included.

Menopausal Screening

The menopausal stage in a woman’s life is a point when a woman’s menstrual periods stop. During this period, it is common to experience symptoms such as hot flashes and mood swings. The average age of menopause is 51, but for some women, it happens in their 40s or later in their 50s.

Understanding the need to guide women through this transition, CSMC provides expert-driven, preventive care to mature women through the Menopausal Screening Package. This screening package aims to help women identify potential illnesses before the onset of the disease through consultation and a series of diagnostic and imaging procedures with a women’s health specialist.

For the safety and convenience of the patients, both packages can be booked through the CSMC E-Consult platform where patients can receive expert medical advice from their doctors without leaving their homes. More than that, a  dedicated Executive Wellness Coordinator provides an itinerary to the patients to ensure that all procedures are properly scheduled prior to going to the hospital. On the day of procedures, patients are advised to go to the CSMC Wellness Center where procedures will be conducted. In this special area, patients can be more comfortable without worrying about getting exposed to other patients.

The Menopausal Screening package has two options. First is the Basic package priced at P4,500, including CBC, Urinalysis, Lipid Profile, Thyroid Stimulating Hormone, Glucose, and follow-up consultation. The second is the Comprehensive package priced at P18,000, including CBC, Urinalysis, Lipid Profile, Thyroid Stimulating Hormone, Glucose, Pap Smear (Conventional), Breast Ultrasound, 3D Digital Mammography, Transvaginal Ultrasound, Whole Body BMD and follow-up consultation.

Maternity Packages

Pregnancy marks the start of an incredible and fulfilling journey. But, unfortunately, while motherhood is often a positive and fulfilling experience, it is associated with pain, suffering, ill-health, and even death. The major direct causes of maternal morbidity and mortality include hemorrhage infection, high blood pressure, unsafe abortion, and obstructed labor.

To ensure optimal health and a safe environment for pregnant women, CSMC launched Maternity Packages which provide comprehensive maternity services to both first-time and experienced moms as they prepare for their journey to a happy, healthy pregnancy. To ensure a stress-free and best possible birthing experience, the packages already include delivery or operating room services, accommodations, medical supplies, and professional fees.

The maternity packages come in three categories. First is the Normal Spontaneous Delivery (NSD) Local priced at Standard Private (P80,000), Small Private (P77,000), and Semi-Private (P73,000). Second, for the Normal Spontaneous Delivery (NSD) Epidural, it also comes in three options: Standard Private (P96,000), Small Private (P93,000), and Semi-Private (P89,000). Lastly is the Cesarean Section Spinal Package, which comes in Standard Private (P150,000), Small Private (P146,000), and Semi-Private (P141,000).

Located in the heart of Greenhills, San Juan, where many Chinoys reside, CSMC is a hospital known for its strong and trusted relationship with the Chinoy community. Amidst the pandemic’s ongoing threat, CSMC focuses on bringing in reliable health and wellness services by joining the #1CH1NOY movement, promoting oneness between the Filipino and Chinese communities while strengthening the Chinoy identity.
