CBFH S6 Episode 6: Tracing Chinoy Roots in Cagayan de Oro  Premieres Nov 16

Following Episode 5, “Celebrating CHiNOY TV’s 15 Years,” which highlighted the journey and milestones of CHiNOY TV over the past decade and a half, Chinese by Blood, Filipino by Heart continues its sixth season with Episode 6, “Tracing Chinoy Roots in Cagayan de Oro .” This episode delves into the daily life, education, history, and religious traditions of the Filipino-Chinese community in Mindanao.

One of the episode’s featured profilers is Willy Limbonhai 林惠中, Treasurer of the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII), who shares his experiences as a Chinoy.

The episode also showcases institutions such as Kong Hua School and Oro Christian Grace School, illustrating how these schools continue to nurture Filipino-Chinese values, preserve cultural heritage, and strengthen community ties through education and faith-based programs.

Tracing Chinoy Roots in Cagayan de Oro highlights local traditions, schools like Kong Hua and Oro Christian Grace, and personal stories of prominent Chinoys, including community leaders and business owners, showcasing how the community preserves its identity, fosters unity, and contributes meaningfully to society.

The continuation of Cagayan de Oro stories will be featured in Episode 7, focusing on FFCCCII’s Operation: Barrio Schools, which has built over 6,000 two-classroom public schools since 1961, and highlights the Filipino-Chinese Friendship Elementary School. The episode will also showcase the community’s Fire Volunteer Brigade and other initiatives that support education, safety, and local development. Episode 7 airs Sunday, November 23, 2025, one week after Episode 6.
