A Special Four Hands Dinner Brings The Community Together  To Build A Learning Center for Deaf Children

Hand and Heart is a social enterprise dedicated to support the deaf community in finding gainful employment through Diversity, Equity and Inclusion training and corporate partnerships in training hiring and management teams on how to manage deaf employees. “The main challenge for the deaf community is that the current mainstreaming in education brings together in one class all children with different disabilities or challenges,” shares Genevieve “Gen” Diokno, deaf leader and Founder of Hand and Heart. “The learning center aims to bridge the gap that exists so that good employment opportunities are more accessible for the deaf and hard of hearing in the future. It is a way to break the glass ceiling that exists due to the limited opportunities for growth and development for deaf children.”

Chef Sharwin Tee shares that “I’ve always believed that food isn’t just about sustenance. So at our pop-up, and soon to be restaurant, Little Grace, we use our food to raise money to support causes aimed at improving society.” He adds, “Learning about Hand and Heart and the work that they do for our deaf community, I just felt it was incumbent for Little Grace to help in any way that we can, both for this dinner and for the future as well. I believe in their mission for inclusivity and skills training, and I think we’re all going to be better for it.”

Discovery Primea General Manager David Pardo Ayala

“In addition to the very praise-worthy CSR component in this event, there were two important factors that made us jump at the opportunity to participate in this event immediately. On the one hand, Discovery Primea has a very strong affinity for Filipino artists, one that you can see in full display in our hotel’s public areas. This 2025 we are strengthening our relationship with artists, and enhancing our presence in art circles. This activity with Hand & Heart will be our second art endeavor for the year, and we hope to continue building up momentum in this space. In addition to this, the opportunity to work again with Chef Sharwin Tee was one that we could not pass up: he has been a long-time friend, colleague, and supporter of Discovery Primea. Our last collaboration was a tremendous success, and we are looking forward to one more culinary milestone together,” Discovery Primea General Manager, David Pardo Ayala shared.

“Events such as this bring a wonderful level of excitement and anticipation to the entire culinary team. We have been very fortunate in Discovery Primea, to have worked with many distinguished chefs over the years: this will be our second collaboration with Chef Sharwin, and we are sure we will learn new interesting cooking techniques, plating styles, and flavor associations. This is not an every-day occurrence, so we are very fortunate to join forces with such a distinguished chef, for the benefit of Hand & Heart.”

The auction selection comes from donations of celebrity and philanthropist Heart Evangelista’s personal collection, art pieces by masters Arturo Luz, Ramon Orlina, and BenCab from Unique Bisyo’s catalog, art pieces by celebrated Father of Philippine Art Workshops Fernando “Nanding” Sena, and paintings by contemporary artists Jesse Esplana and Michael Sagaran, and PWD artists from different parts of the Philippines.

Hand and Heart is fortunate to have the support of several entrepreneurs and private donors namely Nattural Quality Corporation, FishnChix, Multilingual, Expedise PH, CAMP, celebrated sculptor Ramon Orlina, DSWD Undersecretary Emeline Aglipay Villar, CVM Pawnshop, Jollibee, The Watch Store, Unique Bisyo, Dentiste and Nobu  whose contributions have made a successful.
