To be able to capture more variations of the experience of being Chinoy with a passion for food, Episode 6 features Chef Sharwin Tee (郑承恩), Owner of Little Grace Pop Ups; Chef Jackie Ang Po, Owner of Fleur De Lys; and up-and-coming chef and culinary artisan from the Center for Culinary Arts Manila (CCA), Francheska Ong (王仙云).
Episode Overview
CBFH Season 5 Episode 6 strays away from the usual sit-down interviews of previous episodes as it includes cooking demonstrations by the three chefs themselves as they walk viewers through how they had gone from simply being Chinoy kids who loved food to becoming the chefs they are today. Chef Sharwin, Chef Jackie, and Chef Francheska take us back to the roots of their taste for Chinoy cuisine, mentioning dishes such as kiampong, lu rou fan, and cha misua while they whip up revolutionized versions of other classic Chinoy flavors.
As food is a universal language, the episode not only spotlights the three chefs, but it also allows their stories to be told through food. Featuring three Chinoy dishes, each not only signifying the chefs’ sentimental reason for making each one, but also symbolizing how they define the evolution of Chinoy cuisine. Episode 6 connects culture with food in such a way that proves that the way to a Chinoy’s heart is through food.
