Industry-wide Great Cebu Sale enters its final week

Aiming to reinvigorate the local economy and bring back consumer confidence, the Philippine Retailers Association (PRA) – Cebu Chapter has organized a business sector-wide virtual sale, bringing together over 170 top brands in hospitality, travel, fashion, electronics, hardware, food, and other industries in Cebu. 

Rolled out on September 15 and set to last until October 31, the Great Cebu Sale enters its last leg. In the upcoming week, customers may avail of the several discounts and offers provided by participating businesses. 

“We need to start building up business and consumer confidence through a movement of consumption,” said PRA Cebu Chapter President Chester Lim. “The Great Cebu Sales will hopefully create favorable conditions for businesses to go online during the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s a great opportunity for Cebu businesses to promote their product and services via e-commerce.”  

 

Online transactions

The Great Cebu Sale is an aggregator site that provides visitors with promos Cebu-based businesses have to offer. Sales and transactions are not performed on the site itself. It instead directs interested customers to websites and pages provided by the merchants. 

On the first week of the sale, the website recorded over 3,000 visitors from both inside and outside of Cebu, with a high amount of traffic coming from Metro Manila, Davao City, and Iloilo City, as well as from places outside the country such as the US, Japan, Singapore, and Qatar. 

The most popular promos include those offered by tourism-oriented companies such as hotels and resorts. Other sought-after offerings are from the F&B, lifestyle, electronics, and home essentials sectors. 

 

Other activities

In addition to the support given to Cebu enterprises, the event has also hosted various webinars to assist businesses and consumers in adjusting to the new normal, as affected by the COVID-19 global pandemic. 

The Great Cebu Sale also created raffles to encourage participation from its visitors, offering weekly prizes to participants through Facebook, webinars, and the purchasing of at least P1,000 worth of products from associated merchants. Winners of the coming weeks will be announced on October 26 and November 2. 

Hosted by the PRA – Cebu Chapter, the Great Cebu Sale was organized in collaboration with the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI); the Hotel, Restaurant, and Resort Association of Cebu, Inc. (HRRACI); the Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI); the Cebu Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce (CFCCC); Hardwares Consolidated, Inc. (HCI); the Cebu Alliance of Tour Operation Specialists, Inc. (CATOS); and the Mactan Export Processing Zone Chamber of Exporters and Manufacturers.
