Looking for entertainment during the lockdown? Judenites Got Talent (JGT) Finals Season 9, the premier Judenite talent competition of Saint Jude Catholic School, is set to live stream via Facebook Premiere on February 13, Saturday, at 6 pm.
At the online event, Judenite and non-Judenite viewers alike can witness the much-anticipated culminating finale to the months-long quest for the next JGT Champions. The virtual event is organized by the SJCS Student Council in cooperation with the High School Parents Auxiliary Group.
On its 9th season, the exciting competition continues to provide an avenue for showcasing the remarkable talents of Judenites even amid the unfortunate circumstances of the pandemic. Since its first season way back in 2012, JGT has been the springboard of several Judenites in their eventual performing career successes and has been the hotspot for invited celebrities, performers, and producers.
The Competition
The competition proper will be divided into two categories: singing and dancing. Each category consists of three rounds: Auditions, Semi-final Round, and Final Round. The Auditions, Semi-final, and Final Rounds for both categories are all held online.
After the auditions held in October 2020, 13 acts advanced to the next round, seven from the singing category and six from the dancing category. After the semi-final showdown in December 2020, the finalists underwent one-on-one mentoring with Judenite alumnae, Ms. Gwyneth Lim and Ms. Christina Chua, who mentored the singing and dancing category participants, respectively.
The mentors gave first-hand tips and helped the semi-finalists improve and polish their performances in preparation for the final round.
The Awards
The first-place winner of each category will receive Php 8,000 and a plaque of recognition. The second-place winner of each category will receive Php 6,000 and a plaque of recognition. The first placer and the second placer are the Champion and First Runner-up of their categories in the Judenites Got Talent Season 9, respectively. All the other finalists will receive a Php 2,000 consolation prize.
Besides the awards in the competition proper, the school is also holding special awards, namely the Judenites’ Choice Awards and the Social Media Idol Awards. Judenite students of the elementary and high school departments may vote for their favorite acts through the QR code to be shown during the live stream. The most voted act for the singing and dancing categories will earn the Judenites’ Choice Awards.
The Social Media Idol Award will go to the finalists with the most number of engagements in their official poster on the SJCS Student Council 崇德學生會 Facebook Page. A special JGT raffle will also be held, where enticing prizes await seven lucky winners, to be revealed in the Final Round live stream on February 13.
