Private sector to hold summit on equitable distribution and safety of COVID-19 vaccines in the Philippines

METRO MANILA — Key stakeholders in the Philippines’ fight against COVID-19 pandemic will meet in an online conference on April 30, 2021 to discuss key issues surrounding COVID-19 vaccines in the country.

The Vaccine Summit: Equitable Distribution And Safety is a first-of-its-kind virtual event that will shed light on the COVID-19 vaccine importation and distribution experiences of the Philippine government and private sectors. It is jointly hosted by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), and the International Chamber of Commerce Philippines (ICCP).

Spearheading the summit is PCCI Chairman Emeritus and ICCP Founding Chairman Ambassador Francis C. Chua. With him are PCCI and ICCP President Ambassador Benedicto V. Yujuico, ICC Secretary General Mr. John W.H. Denton, and Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc.  President Dr. Henry Lim Bon Liong.

The first half of the event will have resource speakers from the government, diplomatic corps, and international organizations imparting their insights on COVID-19 vaccines and vaccination programs in the Philippines. Joining are Manila City Mayor Hon. Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, National Task Force Against COVID-19 Chief Implementer and Vaccine Czar Sec. Carlito Galvez, Jr., People’s Republic of China Ambassador to the Philippines His Excellency Huang Xilian, Russian Federation Ambassador to the Philippines His Excellency Marat I. Pavlov, and World Bank Group  Global Practice on Health, Nutrition, and Population Senior Human Development Specialist Dr. Sutayut Osornprasop.

Representatives from the private sector and vaccine importers will make up the second half of the summit. With topics ranging from businesses’ role in COVID-19 vaccine importation to the use of alternative COVID-19 treatments, this portion will take the form of a panel discussion. 

The panelists include Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship and RFM Corporation President and CEO Mr. Jose Ma. A. Concepcion III, Zuellig Pharma Corporation Chief Business Officer Ms. Jannette Jakosalem, Faberco Life Sciences, Inc. Medical and Regulatory Affairs Director Dr. Luningning Villa, Concerned Doctors and Citizens of the Philippines’ Dr. Allan Landrito, PCCI Honorary Chairman and Director for CSR and Employers Confederation of the Philippines President Dr. Sergio R. Ortiz-Luis, Jr., Department of Health Director for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention and Control Bureau Dr. Beverly Ho, Chinese General Hospital Administrator Dr. Samuel Ang, and ICCP Director General and GS1 Philippines, Inc. Chairman Mr. Jesus Varela.

Moderated by PCCI Director for Agriculture and Fishery Committee and Vice Chair for Asia and ASEAN Affairs and ICCP Board of Director and Treasurer Mr. Roberto C. Amores and co-hosted by CHiNOY TV’s Ms. Mary Grace Khu, the Vaccine Summit: Equitable Distribution And Safety will run from 3pm to 5pm via Zoom. It will also be streamed simultaneously on CHiNOY TV’s official Facebook page and YouTube channel.
