From video call meetings to e-slumber parties to home workouts, here are three local shops that could satisfy your fashion fix!

STYLE STUDIOS
Best friends Krishia Gonzales and Chelsea Tiu had plans to start up their own business, but they didn’t when to work on it. When COVID happened and they got stuck in quarantine, they used the opportunity to fully establish Style Studios, where they handpick thrift clothes and fashion accessories to develop their apparel retail store!

Style Studios’ collections offer handpicked thrift picks for the everyday Filipina, from crop tops to dresses.

WHAT TO BUY: The best-sellers in their collection so far are their crop tops, which come in a variety of stylish designs chosen by the founders themselves.

MELO SWIM
Owners Abby and Kim were always drawn to the ocean and the waves, searching for their next adventure. “We wanted to create a swimwear brand that embraces these and allows us to focus on having fun,” they said, which led them to create their swimwear brand, Melo Swim! Their swimsuits are locally made from high-quality fabric, nylon, and UPF 50 Sun Protection & Fast-Drying material, and are not only double-lined but also comes with removable pads. Every piece in their collection was designed to give ease of movement so that, in Abby and Kim’s words, “you can conquer the waves and brave the shores with confidence.”

Melo Swim’s Serena Surf Suit (L) and Maya Top bikini top (R) are custom-made with love for future swimming outings or your at-home workouts!

WHAT TO BUY: Their Serena Surf Suit is “extremely comfortable and great for surf and sand,” as they described, saying, “Plus, it has a classic design paired with an open back for a fun twist. Their Maya Top is a bikini top at does it all: surf, swim, and fitness, which are great for workouts at home.

PILLOWTALK MNL
Pillowtalk MNL was started by two twenty-something Chinese-Filipino yuppies. While exploring a bunch of different business ideas of things they both liked, COVID hit.

With the pandemic disrupting everyone’s way of life, the two wanted to find ways to make the quarantining experience a bit better. They found that whenever they dressed themselves up, fixed their hair, and put makeup on that day to do small errands or even to stay at home, those made them feel better and more confident despite all the uncertainty, chaos, and isolation this time brings.

Thus, the idea to create an affordable curated sleepwear online store was born. Little pleasures like these make the experience of staying indoors a bit more bearable and fun, almost like having your very own slumber party.

Pillowtalk MNL’s “Check, Mate” (L) and “Berry Me” (R) sets are comfortable and cozy wears for your next e-slumber party.

WHAT TO BUY: Pillowtalk MNL’s bestsellers are their “Excuse my French(ie)” French Bulldog print long pajama set and their “Check, Mate” checkered blue and pink sets. “They’re quite popular because they give this quaint cottage feel and aesthetic and they’re super soft and comfy!” said the owners. The two personally love the “Berry Me” shorts silk sets due to their light and comfy feelings when worn.
