CHiNOY Cares, Ms. Chinatown Donates to Typhoon Ulysses Victims Through AFP

CHiNOY Cares, along with Miss Chinatown 2020 winners, Cassandra Chan and  Camille Buenaventura, and Mrs. Universe Philippines candidates Cynthia Huang and Star Villanueva, turned over typhoon relief donations to the Armed Forces of the Philippines, represented by M. Gen. Edgardo Yao De Leon PA, Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, J3.

Typhoon Ulysses badly affected numerous areas in the Philippines, leaving parts of Catanduanes and Marikina City flooded and destroyed in its aftermath. To help, CHiNOY Cares recently turned over typhoon relief aid for 200 families in those areas.

CHiNOY Cares is a youth-led non-profit organization formed by Chinese-Filipino advocates, namely CHiNOY TV, Miss Chinatown Foundation, and Mr. and Ms. Chinatown Philippines. The foundation aims to respond to various social issues in the Philippines by organizing and executing initiatives in support of the country’s marginalized and at-risk communities.

CHiNOY Cares, represented by CHiNOY TV president Alvin Tan, and Miss Chinatown 2020 winners Cassandra Chan and Camille Buenaventura, turned over donations for 200 families to the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

 

For the turnover of the donation, Ms. Chinatown 2020 winners, Cassandra Chan (grand winner) and Camille Buenaventura (1st runner-up), made a courtesy call to the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (CSAFP) at the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) headquarters in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City. They were also joined by  Mrs. Universe Philippines candidates, Cynthia Huang of San Juan City and Star Villanueva of Quezon City.

The group donated 200 bottled water, a thousand pieces of canned goods, and 200 packs of rice for 200 families. The donations were received by Lt. Gen. Franco Nemesio Gacal PA TIG (AFP), and M. Gen. Edgardo Yao De Leon PA, Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, J3.

Gen. Gilbert Gapay, the AFP Chief of Staff, expressed his gratitude for the beauty pageant delegates of Ms. Chinatown and Mrs. Universe Philippines for coming to their fellowmen’s aid.

“They are already inspiring a lot of Filipinos with their beauty, talent, and compassion, and it is even more inspiring to see them as proactive agents of social change and exemplary models of good values by helping out typhoon victims. The AFP is delighted to join hands with the Ms. Chinatown and Mrs. Universe Philippines organizations in this endeavor,” Gapay said in a statement.
