FAQs On Mr. And Ms. Chinatown 2020

You may have seen all the #RISE teasers and the candidate call out video that went out in the Mr. and Ms. Chinatown page. Now, you may have a lot of questions and this article will answer every single one of them. 

WHAT IS THE THEME THIS YEAR?
This year, Mr. and Ms. Chinatown will be more than a stepping stone. It will be more than looking for fresh faces. It will be a movement. From #BuildingBridges in 2019, MMCP wants to encourage everyone to #RISE above the current challenges that the community is facing. The goal this year is to look for new ambassador and ambassadresses who are ready to #RISE and empower others in the community to do the same. You will hear more of this campaign when it’s officially launched on the 28th of August.

HOW CAN I JOIN MR & MS CHINATOWN PHILIPPINES?
Aspiring Mr. and Ms. Chinatown Philippines 2020 (MMCP) contestants can apply through this link  https://bit.ly/33Ycqky from August 14 to Sept 4, 2020. 

Candidates will be called in for an online screening process before the final selection of this year’s batch.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS TO BE PART OF MR AND MS CHINATOWN PHILIPPINES?
Mr. and Ms. Chinatown Philippines 2020 (MMCP) is taking a bold move by breaking stereotypes and becoming a platform for young Chinese-Filipinos to make their voices heard and create an impact to the community.

 If you are within 18 to 28 years old, Chinese-Filipino roots (anywhere in the world), with the passion to create change, then you are what we are looking for.

*Contestants should be 18 years old on or before August 18, 2020 and shall not have attained the age of 29 years old on or before December 31, 2020.

WHAT MAKES MR AND MS CHINATOWN PHILIPPINES 2020 DIFFERENT?
Mr. and Ms. Chinatown Philippines 2020 (MMCP) is looking for a new set of individuals who are willing to step up to the challenge. This year, MMCP 2020 competition will be purely digital and this will be a new platform for us to showcase their aspirations and talents. 

We have also removed the swimwear competition, the geographical boundaries and height requirement since everything will be digital. Likewise, the age limit has been extended to 28 years old as well. 

Digital Competition will run from September 13 until Oct 17, 2020 while the digital awarding ceremony will be on October 18, 2020. Awarding night date may be subject to change.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE POCKET EVENTS?
As we occupy a new space for MMCP 2020, new challenges await this year’s roster. In a series of tasks and activities, we are replacing the pocket events with “online challenges”. They will go head to head on challenges that focus Culture, Confidence and Creativity. Each challenge will contribute to their overall scores.

During the awarding ceremony, one major change is the replacement of the swimsuit competition. Instead, we will have an athletic wear segment that will focus on fitness and total well-being.

WHAT ARE THE TOOLS NEEDED FOR THE ONLINE MOVEMENT?
The #RISE candidates must be resourceful and creative in order to have a good experience this year. 

It is highly suggested that they have video capturing devices (smartphone, laptop, camera, etc), and ring lights and stable internet connection.
