College Students’ Favorite Chinese Eateries Around UST

One thing great about UST is the endless options of restaurants and eateries around campus. Whether you’re on a tight-budget or on a spending spree, there’s always delicious food available for you in every corner. The streets of España, Lacson, Padre Noval, and Dapitan would surely not disappoint. 

Thus, to help you plan on your next food trip, we asked 5 Thomasians to share their favorite Chinese eateries around campus and their recommended dishes as well. So get your tastebuds ready because this is gonna be a mouth-watering list!

1) Angkong Dimsum House

One famous motto that prevails among Thomasians is the saying, “ang Tomasinong gipit, sa siomai kumakapit,” and it looks like Angkong Dimsum House is the crowd’s favorite go-to for that dimsum fix. According to our Thomasian respondents, Angkong’s Quail Egg Siomai with Rice (Php 55) is like no other. For a very student-friendly price, you can already savor 4 pieces of good quality siomai and a generous cup of rice. Another popular order here is the Fried Dumplings with Rice (Php 55). With every bite of crisp, this dish would surely keep you coming back for more.

2) Dimsum Treats

When asked what other Chinese eateries our Thomasian respondents can recommend, they were quick to answer with Dimsum Treats; another famous siomai stall located at the street of Dapitan that would absolutely satisfy your dimsum cravings. For one of our respondents, her top recommendations would be their Pork & Quail Egg Siomai (Php 40) and their Sharksfin Dumplings (Php 45) as both dishes are loaded with delicious and savory meat. But the menu winner? Their Special Siomai (Php 45)! With 4 large portions of siomai topped with their famous chili sauce, you might find yourself dreaming about it after devouring every piece. To make the meal complete, one respondent suggests adding their Yang Chow Fried Rice (Php 30) to make it a food experience you’ll surely thank yourself later!

3) Lucky House Lumpia and Fried Chicken

Located at Lacson Avenue, Lucky House Lumpia and Fried Chicken offers chinese-comfort food with recipes passed down within the family for generations. So not only do they offer big meals, but also tasty dishes that will remind you of home. Of course their best-seller is their Fresh Lumpia (Php 105), which one of our respondents stress that it is a must-try. Aside from being obviously delicious, it is worth the price as they also offer unli lumpia sauce. Another recommended dish is their Fried Chicken (Php 140). Known for being crispy, juicy, and really tasty, it is indeed worth coming back for!

4) Wok With Me

If you’re looking for a place where you can sate both your taste buds and your hungry appetite, then this is the place for you. Wok With Me is a UST-staple that offers authentic Asian cuisine. Serving for about 3 decades now, our Thomasian respondents go back here because of their flavorful Filipino and Chinese dishes. When asked what their favorite from the menu is, they said it’s the Fish Tausi with Tofu. According to one of our respondents, the combination of fish, tofu and vegetables are perfect and savory. Plus, it will surely make you full with the generous amount of serving they give. As they said, it is worth every penny!
