Check Out the New Trailer for Disney’s First SEA Animated Film, ‘Raya and the Last Dragon’

The much anticipated Asian-inspired Disney film, Raya and the Last Dragon, is coming out soon, and they’ve finally released a full trailer! This movie is the first Disney animation to showcase Southeast Asian history and culture.

While Raya and the Last Dragon was scheduled for release last November 2020, the pandemic unfortunately pushed back its release date. But not to worry! It’s now scheduled for release in March 2021 and that’s just two months away!

In the film, Raya must track down the last dragon to reunite the people of the world, Kumandra. The trailer introduces us to a few characters like Raya, of course, as well as Baby Noi, Sisu, and Namaari.

Even the stars of the film, Kelly Marie Tran (Star Wars: Episode IX) who voices the lead character, Raya, and Awkwafina (Crazy Rich Asians) who voices the self-deprecating dragon, Sisu, couldn’t help but get excited watching the trailer. It was also their first time meeting, as this is the first Disney film done almost entirely from home!

Check out their cute trailer reaction below:

And rounding out the all-star Asian cast are Daniel Dae Kim (Lost), Sandra Oh (Grey’s Anatomy), Gemma Chan (Crazy Rich Asians), Ross Butler (Riverdale), and Benedict Wong (Doctor Strange).

Adding to the excitement are some of the people behind the film. Co-director Don Hal is also the man who brought us Big Hero 6 and Moana, while co-writer Adele Lim also served up the Crazy Rich Asians screenplay.

Are you eagerly awaiting the release like we are?
