With the COVID-19 pandemic affecting livelihoods of all walks of life, CHiNOY TV kickstarted the #CHiNOYTVSupportsLocal series to give an avenue for local businesses to be featured!

Today’s entry is for all the sweet tooths out there! From cakes to pastries, to ice cream, we’ve got all the best after-meal homemade treats to end a great feast.

BAKE WITH SHYYUMMY BY SHAMMY

Sharmaine “Shammy” Chua’s passion is baking. She loves creating yummy goodies and inviting people to bake with her or even watch her make delicious treats. She decided to start Bake With ShYUMMY, and this small venture has been going strong for the past two years.

Bake With ShYUMMY’s Choco Weave Cupcakes (L) have melt-in-your-mouth chocolate buttercream, while their Orange Crinkles (R) have a refreshing burst of orange in each bite.

WHAT TO TRY: Chua’s Beary Banana Cupcakes are soft, moist, and delectable cupcakes made with real bananas, with a cute bear buttercream frosting. No artificial flavorings and no preservatives were added! Her Choco Weave Cupcakes are soft and light, with melt-in-your-mouth chocolate buttercream. The Orange Crinkles are moist and citrusy made from freshly squeezed orange juice, so there’s a refreshing burst of orange in every bite. For a new kind of sweet, her Choco Mochi Squares are a delicious hybrid of brownies and mochi. For citrus lovers, her Calamansi Bites are moist, mini-tangy muffins made from freshly squeezed calamansi.

AUNT MIMI’S

Merri’s mom has been baking for over 30 years, one of the cakes she and her cousins look forward to is her Mango Cream Pie. Due to financial losses during the pandemic, they decided to share her specialty with the public. Merri also used this as an experience to learn from her mother’s knowledge in baking so they could come up with new recipes and flavors that they could share with their customers.

Aunt Mimi’s savory Mango Cream Pie is a family favorite that they’re happy to share with the public.

WHAT TO TRY: Our Mango Cream Pies have always been a big hit among Merri’s family and their customers. These pies are made with lots of mangoes, a light cream, and a savory, juicy crust – perfect for those who don’t want their desserts too sweet. Aside from their signature pieces, they also serve Buko Pandan Roll and Dark Chocolate Brownie Mousse.

ICEKRIMO

Icekrimo is yogurt ice cream, which was founded early this year by a group of friends exploring entrepreneurship. The first stall was located near the University of Santo Tomas at P. Campa Street. To focus on their careers, they decided to close the shop. When the quarantine period started, they decided to reunite and to relaunch Icekrimo to share the yogurt ice cream goodness again!

IceKrimo’s yogurt ice cream features a diverse selection of flavors, but nothing beats the original!

WHAT TO TRY: Icekrimo has a variety of flavors such as Blueberry, Strawberry, Mango, and Ube, but their Original Yogurt Icekrim is still a favorite which has just the right blend of creamy and tangy.

THE PASTRY GIRL BANAWE

Bored in quarantine, owner Winnie decided to resort to her longtime hobby of baking. “I thought, why not make it into an online business?” she said, and in May this year, she started The Pastry Girl Banawe. Through her new home bakery, she creates an assortment of pastries and desserts such as cakes, pandesal, and cookies.

The Pastry Girl Banawe’s Chocolate Drip Cake (L) and M&M Kitkat Chocolate Cake (R) feature the owner’s loving attention to detail in her cakes’ presentations.

WHAT TO TRY: Her bestsellers are the M&M Kitkat Chocolate Cake and Chocolate Drip Cake, which both have an appetizing, detailed appearance that, in Winnie’s words, “makes people fall in love with it at first sight.”
